Sintra
Sintra is a town just one hour from Lisbon by train and can be completed on a day-trip from Lisbon. We had to take the train from Rosso station which was just round the corner from our Lisbon hotel and in an hour we were at Sintra. The primary attraction of Sintra is the Pena Palace, though certainly not the only one. It was a quaint town full of history, one of many in Europe. A bus ride from the station took us to Pena Palace.
Pena Palace
This was one beautiful palace, like many in Europe and certainly the most colorful I have witnessed. The combination of red, yellow and grey made a beautiful sight. Steps, terraces, balconies, courtyards, we walked through all getting to see some great views.
Moorish Castle
While Pena Palace is the star attraction in Sintra, there is also the Moorish Castle. As we walked on the terrace of Pena Palace we could view this gem on the hills
Sintra Town Center
Cobbled roads, narrow lanes, shops lined up, so typical of any European medieval town.
